Gallagher Command Centre

Gallagher Command Centre Integrator
Evolution is a certified channel partner for Gallagher Security, with trained engineers across the group. In 2025 we were named Gallagher’s Outstanding European Channel Partner of the Year, presented at Gallagher’s European hub in Warwick.
We work on Gallagher estates in defence, data centres, healthcare and finance, where the requirement is usually less about features than about whether the system will still be doing its job in ten years.
Gallagher Command Centre Upgrade and Support Challenges
Three situations account for most of them.
The first is an upgrade deferred because the site is high-assurance and nobody wants to own the risk of touching it. The system works. Everybody knows the version is old. Nobody wants to be the person who signed off the change window on a site where a failed upgrade is a serious incident rather than an inconvenience.
The second is a controller estate reaching the end of its supported life, usually discovered when someone finally asks the question rather than because anything has gone wrong.
The third is an incumbent integrator that has lost its Gallagher engineers, through acquisition or through people simply leaving. The contract is still in place. The capability behind it is not.

Gallagher Command Centre Support Lifecycle
Gallagher supports the current release of Command Centre and the three previous versions. Everything older is unsupported, which in practice means no maintenance releases and no security fixes.
That window moves. A site that upgrades once and then leaves it does not stay supported for long, and the further behind it falls, the less the upgrade resembles a routine maintenance task. Maintenance releases are free on a supported version; falling off the supported list is what makes the work expensive.
We find every version of Command Centre in the field, including some that predate the current support window by a considerable margin. If nobody at your organisation can say which version you are running, that is itself the answer to whether it has been maintained.
Gallagher Controller 6000 to 7000 Migration
The Controller 6000 is now in superseded status following the release of the Controller 7000. It is not abandoned (Gallagher extended Controller 6000 support to at least July 2031, having originally intended to end it in 2027) but it is no longer the platform new work is specified on.
Gallagher’s QuickSwitch route exists for migrating legacy systems onto Controller 7000 hardware, which matters for estates where a full rip-and-replace is not commercially realistic.
NPSA Compliance on Gallagher High Security Estates
This is the detail that catches sites out, and it is not really an upgrade problem, but more an assurance problem.
The High Security Controller 7000 holds compliance with the UK National Protective Security Authority’s Automatic Access Control Systems and Cyber Assurance of Physical Security Systems schemes. For sites where NPSA compliance is a procurement requirement, that assurance is the reason the platform was chosen.
But the assurance attaches to a defined set of components, not to the brand. The assured product comprises Command Centre and configuration client software from version 9.20.1827, the High Security Controller 7000, the high security cabinet and power supply, the Gallagher CAPSS licence, and the Gallagher T20 UK High Security Reader.
Change any element of that set and the site is no longer running the configuration that was assured. That includes reader substitutions, cabinet changes, and software versions below the assured baseline. On a site where CAPSS compliance was written into the specification, that is not a technical footnote — it is the difference between a system that meets its procurement requirement and one that does not.
Sites still running the High Security Controller 6000 are in a different position again. That configuration holds AACS assurance to the 2022 standard alongside CAPSS approval, so it has a defensible position, but it is not the current assured product.
The practical consequence is that on a high-assurance Gallagher estate, the upgrade scope has to be worked out against the assurance documentation before anyone touches a controller. Doing it the other way round is how sites discover they have upgraded themselves out of compliance.

FAQs About Gallagher Command Centre
Gallagher supports the latest release and the three preceding versions. Sites on anything older receive no maintenance releases and no security fixes, and should treat an upgrade as a priority rather than a plan.
No, but it is superseded. Gallagher has committed to supporting the Controller 6000 until at least July 2031, extended from an original 2027 date. New work is specified on the Controller 7000.
Yes, but the scope has to be set against the assured component list rather than against the software version alone. The assurance covers a specific combination of software version, controller, cabinet, licence and reader.
Yes. We regularly take over sites for maintenance, expansion and upgrades.
